Our Story
Welcome! My name is Marnie, I am the founder here at One Pure Life!
One Pure Life is about doing our best to live a life that is less toxic. What we eat and drink, the products we put on our body, the things we read, shows we watch, music we listen to, and the relationships we hold with one another and with the Lord.
I have always preferred a more natural and simple way of life, likely derived from my youth – growing up mostly outside, riding horses, motorcycles, playing ball, climbing trees. Yes, I was a bit of a tomboy, but also very much a girl.
I never was a big fan of heavy makeup, it always felt like my pores were suffocating. In my younger years, my idea of proper skincare was stripping all my facial oils using Sea Breeze and then using a light moisturizer that contained salicylic acid. I didn’t really learn to take proper care of my skin until much later in life, after some of the damage was done (hyperpigmentation).
Back in 2011/2012 timeframe, three different people close to me were all battling cancer (different types), sadly all of those people have since passed away. This was the catalyst that caused me to take a much closer look at what we were eating/drinking, as well as what products we were putting in and on our bodies daily. I started in the bathroom, tossing out products that were loaded with toxic chemicals and replacing them with cleaner options as I could afford, and as I learned more about the ingredients contained therein.
We cannot go back and change yesterday, but once we know better, we can do better! From that time forward, I’ve practiced living a more “pure life” – one with cleaner ingredients, less toxicity, finding pleasure in a simpler lifestyle.
Having worked in the corporate world (information technology industry) for 30+ years, I have plenty of experience with problem solving. One Pure Life is my passion project, something I enjoy doing as a way to share this passion with others.
Nowadays, I love to cook from scratch (using clean / organic ingredients) and I’m a bit of a “clean skincare junkie”. I’m still not really interested in makeup, except of course, mascara! Making meals or skincare products that I can share with others, brings me joy.
Married to my husband (Rick) for 12 years now, we enjoy being outdoors, whether it being working or playing.
Personally, I love watersports (wake boarding, water skiing, boating, tubing, rafting), as well as hiking, mountain biking, gardening, sitting by the firepit, learning new skills, reading, and am a huge animal lover!
